In 121 AD, a Roman legion passed through what is now Burma and was taken to Luoyang, then the capital of the Han Chinese Empire.
Along with the choir came a troupe of dancers and gymnasts. They performed in Hannepyitaw, and the Chinese were very fond of these foreign performers. It was later known as the Romans. It is not known exactly where it came from in the Roman Empire, but it may have been from Syria or Alexandria.
